Firefighter Helmet Camera

Do firefighters wear body cameras or helmet camera?

YES, being a firefighter is a challenging job filled with unexpected dangers. Each mission comes with its own risks, making new technology crucial for improving safety and effectiveness. One important innovation is the use of body cameras. Originally made for police, firefighter helmet camera is now helping them by improving awareness and making their work more efficient.

Rugged and Heat-Resistant Housing Designed for Firefighting Missions

Our helmet camera is specially designed for high-risk environments such as firefighting operations. The outer shell is made of a robust ABS+PC (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene + Polycarbonate) blend, a widely recognized material combination known for its durability, impact resistance, and heat tolerance.

Fire-Resistant Material Composition

  • Polycarbonate (PC) offers excellent thermal stability with a softening point around 145°C (293°F) and can maintain structural integrity in high-temperature conditions.
  • ABS enhances impact resistance and mechanical toughness, while also providing a melting point in the range of 105°C to 125°C (221°F to 257°F).
  • The PC+ABS blend strikes a balance between rigidity, toughness, and temperature resistance, making it ideal for emergency use cases.

High-Temperature Testing

To ensure reliable performance in extreme conditions, the helmet camera housing has undergone high-temperature exposure tests simulating firefighting environments:

  • Hot air exposure test at 100°C for 2 hours: No deformation or cracking.
  • Thermal shock test (-20°C to 120°C): Maintained full structural stability.

Some key features for firefighter helmet camera :

Heat Resistance: Withstands temperatures up to 800°F for short periods.
Video Quality: Records in 2K or 1080P 30FPS
Durability: Rugged and flame-resistant design. Should not stop working after dropping from 2 meter height.
Additional Features: Wide-angle lens, low-light performance, timestamp, water-proof.

How to mount camera onto Helmet?

SHELLEYES helmet camera offers versatile mounting options, including Velcro, M6 nuts, or a Picatinny rail, ensuring compatibility with various helmet types. This design allows firefighters to keep their hands free during operations, enabling them to focus on critical tasks while capturing clear, unobstructed footage of their work environment for review or documentation.

High Resolution

The helmet cameras offered by Shelleyes are heat-resistant (ABS fireproof material), waterproof (IP67), and capable of capturing high-definition video in low-light conditions (night vision). Additionally, we provide a specially designed variant for firefighters—the Firefighter Helmet Camera. This model includes features such as live streaming, GPS, and intercom functionality.

Point of View

Helmet cameras provide a point of view (POV) perspective by being mounted on a helmet, allowing the camera to record what the wearer sees as they move.

Remote Monitoring

Police Body camera recordings must keep secure and protected. Only authorized personnel who need to review specific incidents for their work can access the footage. Thus, Shelleyes addresses this requirement through their body cameras that prevent unauthorized editing of recorded data.
