1. Built-in Batteries

A built-in battery is directly installed inside the device, making it difficult for users to replace on their own. Most body cameras adopt this design, which is common in many portable electronic devices.

Lithium-ion batteries are the most widely used rechargeable batteries, known for their high energy density and relatively lower manufacturing costs.

    • High Energy Density: Lithium-ion batteries provide higher energy density, allowing body cameras to run for longer periods, helping law enforcement officers work for extended hours without frequent recharging.
    • Lower Manufacturing Costs: Compared to lithium polymer batteries, lithium-ion batteries are cheaper to produce, making them the preferred choice for most mid- to high-end body cameras.
  • Disadvantages:
    • Noticeable Lifespan Decline: Lithium-ion batteries tend to lose capacity over time, with performance dropping significantly after a few hundred charge cycles, requiring timely battery or device replacement.
    • Lower Safety: Lithium-ion batteries can overheat, catch fire, or explode in cases of overcharging, deep discharge, or exposure to high temperatures. Proper protective circuitry is needed to prevent accidents.
