In Cam Manager, the Device ID and User ID serve as critical identifiers to ensure the uniqueness of each device and user, facilitating efficient management and tracking of device information.

Device ID

  • Length and Format: The Device ID consists of 7 characters, which are set by default as the device's serial number at the time of manufacturing. The Device ID must be a combination of uppercase letters and numbers, ensuring the uniqueness of each device within the system.
  • Uniqueness: Every Shelleyes body camera is assigned a unique serial number during production, making its Device ID distinct. This prevents conflicts in device management.
  • Modifying Device ID: While the Device ID can be modified in Cam Manager, it is recommended to maintain its uniqueness to ensure accurate and clear device management, particularly during large-scale deployments.

User ID

  • Length and Format: The User ID consists of 6 characters, also requiring a combination of uppercase letters and numbers. Each operator or user is assigned a unique User ID when using the device, enabling activity tracking and management.
  • Uniqueness: To ensure that each user can be uniquely identified and managed, User IDs must not be duplicated. Like the Device ID, User IDs are essential for device management and data tracking.
  • Management and Tracking: User IDs play a vital role in device usage and maintenance. By assigning different User IDs, administrators can clearly view activity logs for each user, aiding in security audits and maintenance.

The use of unique identifiers like Device ID and User ID ensures streamlined operations, secure auditing, and effective tracking in both small-scale and large-scale deployments.
