How to view device location on a map?
When GPS functionality is supported and enabled on the body camera, users can view the device's real-time location on the map through the CMSV client. This feature is particularly useful for patrol dispatching, regional management, and field supervision.
I. Prerequisite
- The device must support a GPS module (e.g., Shelleyes S4A, S4B, S7, S9, etc.).
- GPS must be enabled on the device (this can be done via Cam Manager or in the local settings on the device).
- The device must be successfully connected to the CMSV server and remain online.
II. Operation Steps
Step 1: Log in to the CMSV Client
Log in with a user account that has map viewing permissions.
Step 2: Enter the Map Module
Click on the [Map] tab on the main interface to access the map view.
Step 3: Locate the Device
- You can highlight a specific device by selecting it from the device list to view its current GPS coordinates.
- The map information panel will display additional details such as device name, battery level, and status.

Step 4 (Optional): Playback GPS History
- Switch to “History Track” mode within the map module.
- Select the device and a specific time range to view the recorded GPS movement trajectory.
III. Common Issues & Troubleshooting
| Issue | Suggested Checkpoints |
|---|---|
| Map not displaying | Ensure the map service is properly loaded; verify internet connection; check if map files are missing. |
| Device not showing location | Confirm GPS support and whether GPS is enabled on the device; make sure the device is outdoors (not blocked by indoor structures). |
| Inaccurate coordinates | Some regions use BeiDou or mixed GPS + LBS positioning, which may result in slight location deviations. |
