Night Vision
Night vision refers to the ability to capture images in low-light or completely dark environments using infrared LEDs or other technologies. Night vision technology is widely used in security monitoring, body cameras, military equipment, vehicle assistance systems, and wildlife observation.
Working Principle
- Infrared Light Emission: In low-light conditions, the camera automatically activates infrared LED lights to illuminate the target area. Infrared light is a wavelength of light that is invisible to the human eye, lying between visible light and microwaves.
- Infrared Light Reflection: Objects illuminated by infrared light reflect infrared rays, which are captured by the camera's sensors.
- Image Formation: The captured infrared light signals are processed and converted into visible images, typically displayed in black and white to enhance visibility.
In low-light or nighttime conditions, the night vision capability of a body-worn camera is a critical factor in evaluating overall device performance. Our body cameras are designed with careful consideration of the number and configuration of infrared (IR) LEDs to achieve optimal recording results.
In general, the effective range of night vision primarily depends on the number of IR LEDs. Models equipped with multiple infrared lights, paired with standard lens protection covers, can capture clear footage at longer distances.

Conversely, models with fewer IR LEDs are designed with specially developed diffused light covers, which effectively broaden the infrared illumination area and enhance overall night vision performance.

With these design optimizations, users can capture stable and clear black-and-white footage even in complete darkness—fulfilling the demands of nighttime patrol, surveillance, and evidence collection. Some models also support automatic night vision switching, further improving user convenience and intelligent operation.
