The Video Encode feature allows users to configure the video encoding format used during recording, ensuring optimal file compression and storage efficiency.

  1. Encoding Format Selection:
Through Cam Manager, users can choose between different video encoding formats, such as H.264 and H.265. Both formats effectively compress video files while maintaining high video quality:
    • H.264: A widely used video encoding format with high compression efficiency, suitable for general storage needs. It is commonly applied in streaming, video storage, and playback scenarios.
    • H.265 (HEVC): An advanced format offering higher compression efficiency than H.264. It achieves smaller file sizes while maintaining the same video quality, making it ideal for long-duration recordings or environments with limited storage space.
  2. Video Compression and Storage Efficiency:
    • H.264 Advantages:
      • High compression ratio, reducing file size while maintaining good image quality.
      • Requires less bandwidth for streaming and is widely supported by most devices and platforms.
    • H.265 Advantages:
      • Up to 50% better compression efficiency compared to H.264.
      • Supports higher resolutions (e.g., 4K and 8K) with reduced bandwidth requirements.
      • Ideal for scenarios requiring long-term storage or limited bandwidth, such as surveillance or body cameras.
