User Roles and Permissions Explained
The CMSV system supports multi-level user permission management to effectively control data access, device usage, and system configuration. User accounts are categorized into the following three types:
1. Administrator Account
The highest-level user role with full control over platform configuration and account management.
Main Permissions:
- Create, edit, disable, or delete any user account;
- Set server parameters (e.g., IP, port), storage paths, and database configurations;
- Configure data retention policies (e.g., automatic deletion cycle for historical data);
- View and export all users' audio and video files;
- Access system logs and user activity records;
- Perform system upgrades and maintenance.
Recommended for: System administrators, security officers.
2. Supervisor Account
A mid-level management role with access to subordinate user data but without permission to alter user structures or core system settings.
Main Permissions:
- View and manage audio/video data uploaded by their subordinate device users;
- Access system operation logs;
- Cannot create, edit, or delete user accounts;
- Cannot modify server or system configuration parameters.
Recommended for: Team leaders, group supervisors.
3. Device User Account
The basic role typically assigned to frontline users operating body cameras.
Main Permissions:
- Can only view data (audio, video, images) uploaded from devices bound to their own account;
- Supports data preview, simple tagging, and export;
- Cannot access data from other users;
- Cannot modify system settings or generate system-level reports.
Recommended for: General law enforcement personnel, field data collectors.
